{"id":11809,"date":"2023-06-19T08:27:28","date_gmt":"2023-06-19T07:27:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.voxelgroup.net\/blog\/?p=11809"},"modified":"2023-06-19T08:27:28","modified_gmt":"2023-06-19T07:27:28","slug":"keys-to-understanding-the-electronic-invoicing-law-in-the-dominican-republic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.voxelgroup.net\/blog\/en\/keys-to-understanding-the-electronic-invoicing-law-in-the-dominican-republic\/","title":{"rendered":"Keys to understanding the electronic invoicing law in the Dominican Republic"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Tiempo de lectura:<\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 3<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutos<\/span><\/span><p>The Electronic Invoicing Law is <strong>legislation<\/strong> that makes it<strong> mandatory to use the electronic invoice<\/strong> in the Dominican Republic as the means for documenting commercial transactions conducted in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Law No. 32-23, on Electronic Invoicing, entered into force on <strong>16 May 2023.<\/strong> Its main purpose is to modernize and streamline invoicing processes, thereby promoting<strong> automation in the issuance, receipt, and storage of invoices<\/strong>. The implementation of electronic invoicing seeks <strong>to reduce tax evasion, improve tax control, and facilitate auditing<\/strong> by the competent authorities.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>The implementation period<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>The periods for implementing the law began to be calculated<\/strong> as from its entry into force. The <u><a href=\"https:\/\/dgii.gov.do\/Paginas\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Directorate General of Internal Taxes (DGII)<\/a><\/u> published the implementation schedule\u00a0for taxpayers who are obligated to issue electronic tax receipts\u00a0(e-CF).<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the taxpayer category, the periods are the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Large national taxpayers<\/strong>: they have a period of <strong>12 months <\/strong>after enactment of the electronic invoicing law. These large taxpayers have been divided into<strong> three groups<\/strong>. The first group will have a deadline of <strong>15 January 2024<\/strong>. The second group will have until <strong>15 March 2024<\/strong> to set up their electronic receipts. The third group has a period lasting until <strong>15 May 2024<\/strong>. To check which group your company falls under, you can consult the <u><a href=\"https:\/\/dgii.gov.do\/cicloContribuyente\/facturacion\/comprobantesFiscalesElectronicosE-CF\/Paginas\/Implemantacion-FE-listado-grandes-contribuyentes-nacionales.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attached link<\/a><\/u>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Large local taxpayers and medium-sized national taxpayers<\/strong>: they have a period of <strong>24 months <\/strong>after enactment of the electronic invoicing law. This means that these companies must become electronic taxpayers before <strong>15 May 2025. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Small, micro and unclassified enterprises<\/strong>: they have a period of <strong>36 months <\/strong>after enactment of the electronic invoicing law.
