The\u00a0<\/span>Spanish government has\u00a0approved\u00a0on December 2<\/span>nd<\/span>\u00a0a royal decree<\/span><\/a>\u00a0that postpones the implementation\u00a0of\u00a0<\/span>Verifactu<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to\u00a02027.\u00a0This means that\u00a0companies\u00a0will have one more year to\u00a0adapt their invoicing software to the new technical and anti-fraud requirements.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Verifactu\u00a0is the\u00a0regulatory framework\u00a0for billing systems\u00a0developed\u00a0by the Spanish Tax Agency (Agencia\u00a0Tributaria) to\u00a0facilitate\u00a0the process of invoice verification for SMEs and self-employed individuals.\u00a0According to the government, the decision to postpone the implementation of\u00a0Verifactu\u00a0has been\u00a0made to give companies more time to digitalize their invoicing processes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

New Dates<\/span><\/h2>\n

January 1<\/span><\/b>st<\/span><\/b>,\u00a02027<\/span><\/b>:\u00a0For\u00a0companies\u00a0subject to the corporate income tax\u00a0(<\/span>Impuesto\u00a0<\/span><\/i>sobre<\/span><\/i>\u00a0Sociedades<\/span><\/i>)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

July 1<\/span><\/b>st<\/span><\/b>,\u00a02027:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0For\u00a0all other\u00a0obligated\u00a0companies and self-employed individuals.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is important to note that this postponement does\u00a0<\/span>not<\/span><\/b>\u00a0alter the B2B electronic invoicing\u00a0mandate\u00a0calendar, which is still pending final confirmation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are two separate regulatory frameworks related to invoicing, and each covers a different part of the process: the\u00a0<\/span>Crea y\u00a0Crece\u00a0Law<\/span><\/b>\u00a0regulates the\u00a0<\/span>exchange of e-invoices between businesses<\/span><\/b>, while\u00a0<\/span>Verifactu<\/span><\/b>\u00a0regulates the\u00a0<\/span>technical and anti-fraud features of the billing systems<\/span><\/b>\u00a0that generate\u00a0invoices\u00a0in general.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The new dates give companies more time to adapt their invoicing processes to\u00a0new technologies.\u00a0The regulation\u00a0remains\u00a0the\u00a0same but\u00a0businesses in Spain will\u00a0have\u00a0time\u00a0to\u00a0comply with\u00a0new rules by 2027.\u00a0However, the\u00a0tech\u00a0providers\u00a0should already be compliant with the\u00a0Verifactu\u00a0regulations even with the newly published dates.<\/span><\/p>\n

About\u00a0Verifactu<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Verifactu\u00a0is part of the Anti-Fraud Law framework\u00a0and helps\u00a0guarantee the authenticity and traceability of invoices\u00a0while\u00a0facilitating\u00a0the\u00a0control by the tax administration. The\u00a0Verifactu\u00a0rules will be applied by billing solutions and technology partners, like Voxel, who have adapted their software to\u00a0comply with\u00a0regulations\u00a0and send\u00a0invoice\u00a0records issued\u00a0by the companies directly to the public administration.<\/span><\/p>\n
