This new regulation will require all B2B and B2G <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">VAT invoices to be issued\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">specified electronic format.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> T<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">he implementation roadmap that is expected to be published with the UK Budg<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">et 2026<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0following stakeholder engagement<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:300}\"><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">The announcement came with the results of a government consultation that inquired 342 businesses, representatives and individuals. The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/promoting-electronic-invoicing-across-uk-businesses-and-the-public-sector\/outcome\/promoting-electronic-invoicing-across-uk-businesses-and-the-public-sector-consultation-response\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cPromoting electronic invoicing across UK businesses and the public sector\u201d study <\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">showed that although e-invoicing has been available in the UK for years, adoption by businesses is still very low.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>\n<span data-contrast=\"none\">Next steps<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Although implementation dates and requirements are still pending to be published by the UK government, companies can study the results of the consultation. This will certainly impact the decisions made by the tax authorities. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Results from the first\u00a0consultation showed\u00a0that respondents supported the mandatory e-invoicing regulations\u00a0to\u00a0increase overall adoption.\u00a0Also, respondents\u00a0demonstrated\u00a0to have knowledge about the benefits of e-invoicing, such as more efficiency, faster payments, cost\u00a0savings,\u00a0and\u00a0reduced fraud.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">An important point to highlight was that small and medium-sized businesses did mention the need for affordable, easy-to-use solutions. Moreover, most respondents favored a decentralized model, since it gives businesses more flexibility to choose their preferred software providers.
