Even though there were some rumours about the Greek government going to make the electronic invoice obligatory in all public scenarios, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voxelgroup.net\/blog\/en\/electronic-invoice-is-obligatory-in-italy-since-january-1st-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Italian model<\/a>, the reality is that the country\u2019s legislation is still not quite there. The Greek government had to postpone the enforceability of electronic invoices in the administration via a bill. Thereby, Greece was the last European country to start legislating on electronic invoicing. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>2020\u2019s objective: the electronic invoice, a long way to go<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2017, Greece started to work on implementing the electronic invoice. First, they created the \u2018<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interoperable eInvoicing in Greece Programme<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019, followed by a system to exchange electronic documents between public administrations, called ESIDIS. <\/span><b>They always kept the company-government-company system opened to companies, but they were not obliged to use it.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> However, the Greek government is currently developing a more complex system that will allow not only the electronic invoicing exchange, but also the authorisation and payment of those invoices. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even if these initiatives were encouraging, it was not until 2018 that Greece &#8211; being the last country in the European Union to do it &#8211; decreed a law to regulate the electronic B2G invoicing. <\/span><b>The electronic B2G invoicing will be obligatory in Greece by 2020<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before the European Directive 2014\/55\/EU will go into effect, <\/span><b>all countries have to set their regulation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the official starting date to begin issuing electronic invoices in the public administration. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Voxel Group has developed a legislative map of the electronic invoice<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to check the legislative framework for each European country, and to keep people updated of any specification or change. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Greek government had to postpone the enforceability in the administration via a bill.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":6876,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_sitemap_exclude":false,"_sitemap_priority":"","_sitemap_frequency":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[1626],"tags":[1759,1692,1783],"coauthors":[110],"class_list":{"0":"post-8588","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-compliance-en","8":"tag-b2g-en","9":"tag-bavel-en","10":"tag-einvoice"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Greece makes the electronic invoicing obligatory in a B2G environment by 2020 - Voxel - Blog<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"By 2020, invoices in a B2G environment will be obligatory in Greece.
