As previously stated, invoices have to include the unique identification code (ATCUD) and a QR code. These requirements will come into force from <\/span><b>January 1, 2021<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, these measures will also be applicable to paper invoices.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>The ATCUD\u00a0<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Validation-Sequential number code or ATCUD is a unique code for each invoice issued.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To obtain the code, taxpayers have to previously communicate the invoice series that they will use to the PTA. Once the Tax Authority is informed, taxpayers will receive a validation code for each invoice series notified.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ATCUD will be composed of this validation code and the sequential number following the next format: \u201cATCUD: Validation code-Sequential number\u201d. The ATCUD will have to be included in each invoice generated. Invoices that will not include the code will not be considered valid according to tax terms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>The QR code\u00a0<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, invoices will include a QR code.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the PTA has published the structure and content requirements to generate and include the QR code in each invoice. This will have to contain all the information stated in the invoice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All specifications can be found at the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/info.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt\/pt\/apoio_contribuinte\/Novas_regras_faturacao\/Documents\/Especificacoes_Tecnicas_Codigo_QR.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PTA\u2019s official portal website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Mandatory B2G electronic invoicing\u00a0<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These new requirements will come into force at the same time as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voxelgroup.net\/blog\/en\/portugal-progresses-in-electronic-invoicing-as-it-becomes-mandatory-in-the-b2g-environment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">implementation of the electronic invoicing in the B2G environment<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. From January 1, 2021, big companies will have to digitize its electronic invoicing system with the Public Administration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Small and medium companies won\u2019t be enforced until July 1, 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this sense, baVel, the electronic invoicing platform of Voxel Group, has developed the <\/span><b>connectivity <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with the <\/span><b>eSPap<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the organization in charge of the Portuguese Public Administration\u2019s tax platform.
