Tax digitalization is advancing rapidly in France, driving the adoption of e-invoicing and e-reporting. The e-invoicing law, promoted by the Direction Générale des Finances Publiques (DGFiP), aims to improve transparency, reduce fraud, and optimize administrative processes for all French companies. But what does this mean in practice?

The role of AFNOR in e-invoicing in France

AFNOR is the French Association for Standardization. This private association, recognized by the French state, is responsible for translating the law into practice. Specifically, it coordinates the drafting of standards, guides, and best practices that will serve as a reference for the entire ecosystem: certified platforms (plateformes agréées), ERP providers, and private companies.

AFNOR also plays a key role at the European level: in initiatives such as the ViDA project, AFNOR represents France in standardization committees related to e-invoicing, ensuring that decisions are aligned with the needs of the local market.

    E-invoicing in France

The French e-invoicing system is based on a model that connects specialized providers (plateformes agréées), the Public Invoicing Portal (PPF), and the companies issuing and receiving invoices.

Companies must issue and receive electronic invoices through the plateformes agréées, which are responsible for validating, transforming, and transmitting fiscal information to the PPF. This portal centralizes data to ensure tax control and traceability of operations.

The French law establishes a progressive schedule starting in 2026 and extending to 2027, affecting companies according to their size.
