Status of electronic invoicing in Spain
The Crea y Crece Law established the mandate for the creation of the Spanish e‑invoicing system. Royal Decree 238/2026, which regulates the mandatory use of electronic invoicing in transactions between companies, has already been approved, and the publication of the draft Ministerial Order sets the start dates for companies to adapt to the regulation.

Key features of the Spanish e‑invoicing system
Companies will be required to exchange electronic invoices through private Electronic Invoice Exchange Platforms (PIFE), such as Voxel.
PIFEs will be required to send a faithful copy of each invoice to the public platform, which will act as a repository.
Receiving companies will be required to report on the status of invoices and payments.
